here's some light reading for ya. read these threads about DJ A-Man, its rather funny. im sure some of you have seen this guy's threads across various boards. in summary, it all started in his CC thread when i pointed out that he played Airbase "Escape" back in december. soon enough people caught on that there was no way that he could have legally got a copy of that track. in the TA thread, even airbase and menno de jong posted, commenting that he was a pathetic lowlife who is a disgrace to the scene.

actually, i think he ruined himself. what, you support this guy? he's an illegal dj trying to pass himself off as a privileged and elite dj by playing promos that he never received. hes insulting the artists who've put all the time and energy into their tracks, only to have them downloaded for free. what else do i need to say, this guy deserves whats coming. i dont see it any other way, and i dont understand how you could.

nah the guy isnt ruined, sadly most people dont care if the songs they hear are legal or not, they dont mind supporting a dj who breaks the rules and might be hurting the industry by the dj's actions.

What if illegal dj's just illegaly download songs that are already out? How would they get caught?

they most likely wouldnt, but that is not the case here, some of the songs mentioned there is no way they could of gotten them from the artists, or legally yet, or in most cases that would be a very unlikely senario that they have promo copies from the label or artist.

now back to the imprtant part, when are you and redstar going to fight? i am watching this thread only for that part, come on lets get it started, my time is valueable you know

it happens everbody, i have a huge respect level for redstar being pro-active about this, but i want to make another point. this kind of thing is horrilbe, but shouldnt take away from your joy in the music. it happens all the time, and education about this will take months, or more likely years to have an effect. in the mean time while education takes it's effect dont

1. lose your cool, or your personal enjoyment because of people who are ignorant to the harm they are causing (and yes playing unreleased material is very harmful. music already has a very short life in our genre, and releasing it early only shortens that life before it fully begins, that is just the tip of the iceberg)

2. look at these mis-guided people with a grain of salt and pity. i dont see any to correct the problem with any means but education. unlearning something you have learned is very hard as is, and people will never look at the improtant issue unless it is handled in the correct manner. while a flame war makes you feel much better in the short term it doesnt do very much to correct long term problems. teach the offenders, dont be offensive to them, as they will only react with the same.

once again i totally take my hat off to redstar, when i was a high school senior i didnt take on such ambitions, and i respect deeply the time and effort he puts into the community we all enjoy. i dont have enought time to even listen to all the tracks anymore, let alone give back. i hope my suggestions help everybody improve this area for the whole community in general

i would care. if i heard a track that was definitely not out, not even on promo, i would never listen to this dj again, and probably open a thread somewhere too.
